Green Bee wins this year’s tallest tomato competition by a lot and fruit set looks good.

My Green Bee seeds were sown April 10th and sitting happily under lights. They are going to be very big plants from what I can see!

Don't be impatient!

You need to wait for the yellow to show on the fruits.

Green Bee is what I call a ‘vigorous grower’, lol.

The plant is quite massive, very vigorous grower, the flowers are oddly small in contrast.
Is the shape correct though? I was expecting something more round.

I have four cherry tomato plants in 15 gallon pots.
Sungold = 8' tall
Black Cherry = 6' tall
Midnight Snack = 5' tall


Green Bee = 7' tall


These plants are going crazy and Green Bee is huge and setting lots of
fruit. The other three have started ripening and first pickings came in at 49, 55, and 56 days respectively.


I suspect Green Bee has a couple of ripe fruit, but I can't tell, as I'm
still looking for that "blush" near the blossom end to confirm.
Any other clues I should be looking for on this variety?


Once ripening occurs, it will definitely hold its own compared to the
others with amount of fruit.

The fruits are often a bit oblong and pointed. Those look like they might not be Green Bee F1 though. Is that Green Bee F1?

Might it be Green Bee F2 that someone shared? Or a pre-release Green Bee type that "got out"?

Based on only your one photo, it kind of looks more like one of the Green Bee parents.

Ripe "coloring" varies. Sometimes it is yellow on the surface. Sometimes hint of pink develops in the pericarp. Sometimes both.

Today we tasted 2 with a hint of pink in the pericarp (45 days after transplant), and they were tangy and tart. Not quite done. Trial and error is needed! Ripe "look" at one part of the growing season may not be exactly the same at another time.

But, there is virtually no risk of over-ripening/spoilage.

Fred, all I know is that GB is going to be a monster! It’s the tallest in my garden. I had a late plant out because of weather, so lots of flowers. I’ll post pictures soon. I’m really looking forward to trying this one!
