Default Interesting Ecuador Hot Pepper Plant ~

I only grow about 9 hot peppers
within my tomato patch for "added heat"
in my salsa and to make a yearly chili powder that would knock your sox off ~

I made an interesting discovery just yeasterday when looking for peppers :

On my "Ecuador Hot" pepper plant , one
branch set out green foliage with green fruit -

On the opposite branch (same plant) , are variegated leaves with variegated peppers !

The variegated leaves aren't like "Fish Peppers" -
they are more like stripes ... same with the peppers ~

Any idea is I save seed would it produce the same again
next year ?

Pics are coming this weekend, as well as "green" flavor reports ~

Tom

I grow one called 'Variegated'

On this plant the variegation seems to vary from plant to plant ,on those I've grown. I gave seeds to a friend who got an almost pure white plant. This year I grew out seed from that plant and got an all green plant with one variegated branch. On all of them, the stripes on the pods disappear when ripe.

here are some "decent" shots of what
I've got going on ...
To the left is normal foliage -
but to the right is varigated ~

lol Mantis ~
Nope, and they aren't waxed for photos either !!! lol ~
Papa Vic says I wax my tomatoes before
I photograph them ~ lol ~ "WAX OFF" !!!

I just thought this was interesting, that half of
the plant is fine: green leaves green fruit -
and that the other half is varigated ...

Strange ~ but I will save seed to see if the
plants in the next generation come out stripped
like that again ~

Tom

the one I talked about above with only one variegated branch is now almost all variegated. Talked to my seed source and he said his all white started out as ordinarily variegated. Odd plants!

Yes, but as with other variegated varieties I've grown, they lose it when they ripen
