Default Sad News - Grub Passed away

A fellow Tomatovillian has shared news to Craig and I that Grub of "Grub's Mystery Green" fame has passed away. Apparently it was following a short illness according to this article.

Grub also left his mark on the Dwarf Tomato Project in early years and named 2 varieties after his daughter Summer. They are 2 wonderful varieties - "Summertime Green" and "Summertime Gold"!

It is very sad to lose a fellow project member and such a terrible loss to his young family!

Sad news and sad times for awhile for his family. I hope they find peace and can go on to a good life.

I was so sad to hear this. I do miss a lot of the old timers that no longer post here, but had no idea he was still a young man with such a full and exciting career. May he rest in peace.

Absolutely crushing news - so young...

Grub had his hand in a number of our dwarf tomato project releases - it was he, with his early Sneezy work, that confirmed our hypothesis that this would work well by finding some superb leads - I remember anxiously awaiting his pictures and results. We wouldn't be where we are without his contributions.

All of these had Grub's imprint - Dwarf Emerald Giant, Summertime Gold, Summertime Green, Sweet Adelaide, Dwarf Sweet Sue, Banksia Queen, Chocolate Champion, Rosella Purple, Rosella Crimson and Boronia - 10 of our really excellent releases.

Live every day - every moment - to its fullest, friends. We simply have no way of knowing what's in store for each of us.

Sorry to hear. I too remember Grub in the early days of TVille. He will be missed.

Remember when Grub showed the pictures of his newborn kids and as they grew up.

Yes, I read the article you linked to but it didn't tell me how old he was, anything about his wife, relatives? Do you think there's an obit article anywhere?

Well, I did find more info about him, etc.by Googling.

http://www.fishingworld.com.au/news/...-lockwood-dies

I wonder if he was still growing tomatoes, sorry, just can't help being curious.

And I never knew of his major interests as a journalist and boats

RIP Grub.
