As if my life and work interests were not near busy enough, I agreed to be a moderator on potatoes.

A heartfelt welcome to anyone willing to venture into the subject of potatoes. I have been breeding potatoes since I was a young boy. I am in my sixth decade of creating new potato varieties, and some of my creations have been in commercial production for some time now.

I will have to put together a resume of sorts to highlight my potato experience. I will also have to put up a website of my own, hopefully with a photo library of my work.

Please understand that I am deeply honored to be here.

I like Green Zebra. One of the first tomatoes to make me realise there's more to tomatoes.

Tom, I'm so glad that I redirected you over here from GW , saying that most of the "good" folks you'd find here, and you will.

So welcome and I'm glad you'll get a chance to discuss potatoes here and then also post about tomatoes in the Crosstalk and Research Forums and wherever else you see something you want to comment about.

For those who don't know, Tom and I have known each other since 1990 when he first called me and thru the years we've had interaction re tomatoes, not potatoes.

A few years back we met when I was an invitee at Hortus Nursery in Pasadena and Tom had driven down from Bakersfield where he lived at the time.

I'm telling you, there's no way he can type as fast as he can talk and I don't consider myself a slouch in the talking department, as Craig can tell you, but Tom won hands down.

yes Worth, small roundish to oblong tubers that grow below the soil, often served in the place of grits in areas that eat vegetables with their morning meals
