Aunt Gerties Gold - Outstanding, love the flavor & texture
Brandywine - strictly for taste: the best - low producer for me Ben Gantz - too mild for my taste Nicholayev Yellow Cherry - sour tasting this year. Won't be invited back to the party next year. I am taking yellow cherry recommendations. Black Cherry - My fave so far this year. Outstanding. Stupice - Early, good flavor, good in salsas/sauces, real tomato taste, heavy production. Exceeded my expectations. Black Krim - very good tasting, great texture JD's Special C-Tex - very good tasting, great texture Need to do a blind taste test between Black Krim, JD's and Spudakee. |

Nice looking batch of tomatoes -- enjoy!
We are usually 2-3 weeks behind you. I'm hoping that this too short spell of hot weather will finally kick start some ripening. Three more days of 90's - Yay! So far, all I've picked are Stupice, Aurora, a couple of Azoychka and some Sungolds. My Aunt Gertie's are far behind KBX in size and production, so AGG may have to go off the must-grows if KBX has the flavor. Did not particularly care for regular KB. JD's Special C-Tex also has done well despite the chilly summer, lots of size, now just waiting for the color ...... Was a favorite last year when it was also on the cool side here. I grow Snow White (pale yellow) as a cherry, mostly because my sister really likes it, I am not much of a cherry fan though I do like Sungold. Every time I see your avatar picture I am reminded of my dog Sally who is no longer with us. What a nice and sweet looking dog!

I have 10 plants in the ground (way too crowded) and 8 in containers (Earthtainers, SWCs, Pots). I have witnessed a lot of BER in the Earthtainer-grown tomatoes. I think they run too wet. Need to build another raised bed garden next year...if my wife doesn't have me committed...
