Can someone tell me what this and how to get rid of it- have tried moss killer with no luck. It is in a mostly shady area that doesn't drain well. All help is appreciated. Thanks- Jo in WA

Well, it's some kind of liverwort, but I have no idea how to get rid of it.

I have those too, in one shady section of my woods garden. They can grow into quite a mat if you leave them alone. When I see them, I try to remove them by digging up a generous scoop of the soil just below them. I can pretty well control them this way for a season, but a few always pop up the next year.
