Grub's Mystery Green v. ??? Need help with comparison..
Hey Guys! Here's what I'm hoping to do.
I've been growing this Mystery Green tomato for at least 4 yrs now. It's the only Green that I've ever grown and I love it! Great taste to it! It's Potato Leaf, medium size fruit, around 75-80 days, thick Amber skin, and light tasting. The only other Potato Leaf Green variety I know of is Grub's. Is anyone out there, who is growing Grub's Mystery Green, want to grow mine out to compare? I could not get a hold of Grub's seeds this spring and my plant out is two weeks away. I only have a few seeds left but I do have some little four week old plants too I can send. I have a name picked for it but if someone who is familiar with Grub's, feels it's exactly like it, I'll call it Grub's and drop it. All I would like is a little feedback. Any questions, drop me a line. Thanks, Greg |

Greg, this variety is supposed to be PL, but RL's are also incirculation as Tania notes above. If it's PL, that's what it should be so methinks you don't want to rename it. Carolyn

http://t.tatianastomatobase.com:88/wiki/Green_Giant In the thread you linked to there were several comments about not being amber blushed, but it turns out that in the south the large GWRipes don't always develop that amber blush but do when grown in more cool climates. Many folks were claiming that Green Giant didn't develop an amber blush so Craig sent seeds of his to a couple of us and they sure did, we being in the northern climes. Reinhard grows his tomatoes in a greenhouse where it's quite warm, so he didn't see the amber blush either. Carolyn

I'm trying a few new GWR varieties this year to compare with my favorite Cherokee Green.
I got my Grubs Mystery from heritagetomatoseed.com/ but Tatiana has them as well and lists other good venders too. I will also be trying Green Giant and Humph. Aunt Ruby's German Green is late for me here so not as productive but good, nevertheless. |

Green Giant does not have a amber blush. It is pink.... as shown here.
Greg, perhaps yours is something else! http://www.tomatopalooza.org/tomatop...s/IMG_0250.JPG
