Adelaide Festival most Productive !

I have to say the most neglected in the garden in 5 gallon bucket was

Adelaide Festival not "medium" ….but LARGE..tomatoes

and lots of them ! …..


It really was not my first choice . striped tomato etc.

..but ..I declare it a Major find and

must grow again next year …

They seem to grow inspite of my poor plant culture practice ...LOL



Anybody else found these plants to be mutant monsters for production as well ?

Adelaide Festival was the "Southern Hemisphere" release of the stripe that came out of the Tidy Family. Its development was parallel to Tennessee Suited and both were released to the public.

Pretty even balance ..tasty ...with a hint of sweet .

I guess it depends when you pick them etc. how ripe etc. as well .

was Adelaide festival "earlier" than Tennessee suited ?

anybody have experience to make an opinion in your environment ?


Again I was soooo surprised by Adelaide Festival …..I couldn't believe it and have to rethink my trial selections .

Adelaide Festival is listed at Victory as an indeterminate dwarf. A 5 gallon container might affect it, but how tall did it get, and did it bear longer than other dwarfs you've grown? I've found that ind dwarfs can get 5 ft tall or more, and bear longer. I have seeds for it, and was thinking about growing it next year.

I would say about 4 feet (or a bit over )

5 gallon .....

lots of large fruit ...not medium (this time )

surprisingly ..unexpectedly ...prolific …...and striped !

I truly was surprised at the results .

Have you also grown Boronia, Tasmanian Chocolate or Rosella Purple in the past? If so, how did Adelaide Festival compare to any of those for flavour etc?

Boronia was/is one of my favourites…..

BUT......this year ...Adelaide festival ….

was earlier / Longer / and more productive than Boronia ……

From the Dwarf project :

My Favourite classics are Dwarf Arctic rose and Yukon Quest ….(Did not grow this year)

Bundaberg Rumball was super productive this year (smaller fruit of course)

Go figure !?

I think I'll try the Adelaide next year. I read that it is a cross between Rosella Purple and Berkley Tie Dye. I love the flavour of Rosella.

grew about 4 ft and a bit .


I admit I did not care to try either of the parents ….
and

Adelaide Festival was a trial and not a priority ….and neglected …


But Most hard to ignore this year …...OUTSTANDING.

Thanks. I have found the dwarfs getting a little taller than some growers in other places.

My Tasmanian Chocolate is well over 5ft tall. I will try Adelaide Festival and at least 3-6 other dwarfs next year based on my first experience with TC this year.

PBTD also did really well for me so I'm excited about Adelaide Festival.

My Adelaide Festival plant was about 4ft high in a 5-gallon grow-bag. I got 27 fruits averaging about 4 oz. from it until it pooped out halfway thru August. May have been a disease though I had sprayed with Daconil.
Taste was ok, not spectacular. I'll try again next year.
