If you do have some of MarinaRussian's seeds, and have more than you need to set up your usual seed production, I'd like to put a few of hers next to the products of my seeds and Marsha's . . . but I only want them if you have enough that it wouldn't endanger your seed production needs.

If I happened to get anything interesting I'd share them with you, of course, but with the vole damage to tomatoes (and about everything else) this year, I'm feeling gloomily that I should quit gardening and just set up as a vacation location for miniature dachshunds to come and enjoy a gourmet selection of pesky rodents.

I do intend to persist with tomatoes, really . . . but I don't want anyone counting on me to produce any . . . those voles did unprecedented damage in spite of measures that have slowed them down in the past. I might have a new idea or two, but probably so do the vile voles . . . we shall see.
No, I don't currently have any ISH seeds from Marina, but the way we left it I was to contact her about seeds in general for growout next summer, so I'll try to estimate how many seeds I might need for two new volunteers fpr ISH as well as for you.

VILE VOLES indeed. Solution for me was a flat blade very sharp shovel.

Sorry, I have no experiance with either yet. I've only grown "Brandywine" plants from a local greenhouse and Burpee's "Pink Brandywine". Both were very late and low producers. Still my favorite tomato though.

I haven't made THE list yet but I have a couple that will always return... Moonglow, Dr. Lyle, Pink Vermissage, Neeves Azorean red. I'm part of the MMM and only have room for about 35-40 plants so I have to really think hard.

Tania's catalog is up to date. Order went substantial.
I have no clue what am going to grow next year. Possibly will go by the rarest and then by oldest seed.

I also have limited space, but grew Moonglow and NAR this year. Both should make a return, but sooooo many to consider.

Start them early. For those who are not clear, Start them early. lol
Your posts are the reason I'm so determined! I figure if you can grow them and get good production in Alaska by starting early then darn it I should be able to give it a shot!

Carolyn, my father used to stick a hose down the holes and drown them out. The cats we had then would prowl the yard waiting for them to come out the other holes and pounce. Of course those cats used to climb the rafters and pull down pigeons without much trouble. They'd also dig in the garden for the voles. I remember one cat (his name was "Carrots" but it should have been "Killer") laying in the barn doorway, looking as lazy as can be, until the barn swallows would start swooping in and out again...up he'd jump and caught the birds every time!

Only room enough for 35-40 plants??? To an apartment gardener you've got Tomato Disneyland ! It must be such fun to have so many. And alot of work-but a labor of love?
I'm just having a few Red Robins and hopefully my first Big Beef.

Too early to define. Growing lots of dwarfs, that I know for a fact. Plenty of time to ruminate it.

From a total of 18 varieties, Prolly I'll grow about 30 plants .
I have that are coming back and a few that I have picked to grow next years. I am not into trying rare/new just because they are rare. There are 1000s of them. I want to get big bang for the bucket.
I pick almost all based on peers review here and somewhere else. So I think that is why I have already decided what to grow.
I am all set except for a few seeds of New Big Dwarf and Reisentraube.

Gardeneer.

Yes. Such a handsome man, and kind too. It was so good of him to make those caring commercials.
My Mom loved him too.
Oops, I've hijacked...
