Default Leaf curl, sandy residue questions

Overall my little tomato patch looks great, but I have a few questions for you all.
My Orange Russian has had some leaf curl for 2 weeks.
A healthy looking Stump of the World has some brown sandy residue on the leaves.
They were planted with some plant tone, and I have hit them all twice with TTF. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

They look fine. Can't tell what to residue is from the picture.
It looks like sand grains or something that got blown in or kicked up and landed on the leaves. Did you inspect the grains close up?

It turns powdery when you rub it. It is only on one plant, dead in the middle of the garden.

That sounds like fertilizer or something along those lines. How close are the plants to any grass area that might have had fertilizer or weed control applied?

Not at all. I've only used liquid, and the odds of only hitting one of 20 plants is low. I was thinking maybe it was waste from a pest

Is something chaffing that center post, is it wood particle? If it's frass, it will come from the backside of the leaves above the droppings. You should see egg sacks or gooey larvae film. A lot of this seems up too high on the plant.
