I moved 24 tomato plants from trays to the garden yesterday !

Mater time is near !!!

ARRRRGGGG! Here I am WAY south of you and sitting here at the computer inside the house with a coat on! Temp outside already in the 30's and dropping fast. Naturally most my plants are in the low tunnel still (the ones I planted in the garden mere sticks after the cold damages) and cant go in the ground till tomorrow at the earliest.

it really been wet here and its raining today . I knew if I didnt get them put in wednesday it would likely be another week before it was dry enough again . My plants were getting to big for the trays . The temps are lower than I like but I have covers around them so they should do fine .

bad news ....... cold temps and heavy rains have taken their toll ........ I have lost 6 plants so far

As long as the extended forecast holds up, I'm planning to plant out Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

I share your frustration Redbaron. I'm in OK too and it's been extremely challenging this spring to get things going. Started the seeds at the right time and then the spring/winter loop began when it was time to harden them for the garden. The transplants suffered from being outside awhile, then inside awhile over and over as weekly cold fronts continued.
I set three mater plants into the raised bed early (Glacier, Siberian, Sub-Arctic) and protected them when the cold fronts rolled through. They are beginning to blossom now.
I finally thought it was safe to plant the rest of them in late April and we had yet another cold front with high winds come through that damaged leaves on most of them, but they survived.
Not a normal spring for sure.

Got all 50 tomatoes moved to the garden today. They aren't going to like the 41 temp forecasted for tomorrow night. If they had ears I'd tell em tough cookies! Some of the darn things were 1 1/2 ft. tall and I had to do something with them. Just like the rest of you our temps have been up and down all over the place. At least my husband will be pleased that they're not piled on the kitchen table anymore at night.

had to replace 7 with backup plants today . Some that I thought were done are showing new life from the dryer and warmer weather over the last few days .

Put out 30 pepper plants today as well .

Hopefully the weather will hold this tiome ....

Today was to be the day, but guess what ... today will have temps in the upper 90s and bright, hot sunshine. The plants would end up being cooked, so tomorrow is the target date.

Sheesh, my exact thoughts, couldn't have said it any better!

I spent about 5+ hours outside today, setting up the cattle panels for the squash, melons, and cucumbers, getting them transplanted, then put in the very heirloom pole bean starts, and finally got the peppers into their 5 gallon buckets. If it decides to freeze tonight, I will most likely have heart failure!! Maybe they can bury me and the dead plants together????
