OSU F2
This photo captures fruit from two adjacent F2 plants from the cross OSU Blue x Zebraheart. Although all transplanted F2 seedlings had strong anthocyanin expression in leaves/stems, they continue to segregate for anthocyanin fruit. One of these F2 plants has stripes from the ZH parent, the other the anthocyanin fruit trait from OSU Blue.

First time with OSU Blue. Early in spring they were bluer. Less foliage and lower angled sun I suppose. Current fruit have just smudges of blue/purple. If any of you tomato king hybridizers have any seed of a Blue that is bluer (is that a word?) than PS 20 I would love a few precious seed. I'll even invite you over for a delicious lunch:

This is a ripe fruit from an F2 plant Black and Brown Boar x OSU Blue. It's my only striped "antho-black" fruit this year.

I am basically in the middle of lake Minnetonka (1/2 block from Spring Park bay) out west used to live in Apple Valley and have fished on prior lake a number of times I started growing tomatoes when I moved west. Wish I had the tomato bug earlier becuse the place in Apple Valley had a nice big back yard with farm field behind it and I could have put in a large garden there. I have only been growing tomatoes for I think 5 years including this year and have been stuck growing them in containers at my townhouse about 11 per year for the last 4 years so I still have lots to try but have read all I can and am addicted Just waiting for the time when I can get a house and some land to grow more.
It would be kind of cool to put together a tasting event for residents of the twin cities even if it starts small as I know there are a few people on this board that are in the area. I have seen your posts on all your crosses and envy that you have the space to grow and plant the crosses I limited in my plants so contunue to try mostly new varities each year to see what I might like. This year cowlicks has been #1 for taste for me and was also the first ripe beefsteak at 12.75 ounces. Had a Earl of Edgecombe yesterday that was very good and will probably plant it again next year. I am starting to get blushing fruits on most plants now it should be a good August for harvest. The good news is I am a 33 years young so I have lots of tomato seasons ahead of me Craig |

Just tasted several OSU Blue F2 antho-fruit (various crosses) last night. They ranged from good to very good, with the BBB F2 fruit in the photo being very good. I'm optimistic I'll find some excellent tasters in the next generation. The striped trait will be stable, and I expect the more of less the same on the anthocyanin fruit trait - flavor related traits should be segregating.

tiger striped
Fruit from a F2 plant (P20 x Beauty King). This "tiger striping" is typical on fruit on this plant. I think it is anthocyanin preferentially expressed in the green stripes on striped fruit.
