5th Annual SETTFest A Huge Success

A new venue for our 5th annual SETTFest brought with it a much larger crowd and more tomatoes for everyone to try out! We lost count at 70 people in attendance, and we also saw a welcome increase in the number of tomatoes brought by different people, which gave us the unique opportunity to compare the same varieties grown in different gardens.

Suze, you left off Atkinson and ?Zebra Stripe (green multi). I brought those. Also, I _think_ I did bring a Box Car Willie, but I will need someone else to remember with me to confirm.

Yes, you brought BCW and someone also brought Goose Creek - which was one of the favorites. Was that you?

I've added Atkinson, Zebra Stripe, Box Car Willie, and Goose Creek to the list. Edit, also Black Krim and Blush. That brings the variety count up to 123.

Does anyone else have corrections or additions to the list?

Sue, I brought the Not Absinthe. It's a tasty little green, shape varies from oblate to cute mini-beefsteaks.

The first year I grew Absinthe, one plant gave me very dark (red-black) lg cherries, although I only saved seed from the plant that was true-to-type. I grew two plants from my saved seed this year, and one gave me the smaller fruits. Also, epidermis is yellow on the Not, unlike the correct Absinthe.

I brought the Atkinson, AND I brought the Goose Creek.

Goose Creek actually came from the seed bleg I made in December for the HCC Horticulture Club. I'll have to see who sent them to me.

I am so lucky to live right down the road from Suze. About 12 miles.
I have eaten so many tomatoes from her garden I cant even remember what I have tried.

Just tonight I had 2 BLT's made from Wes.

Thank you Suze.

I really wanted to attend the event this year and planned on it if it was held at Washington On The Brazos again. Since we have a trip to Northern Colorado starting tomorrow, I decided trying to do both would require too much driving in a short period. Maybe next year!

Great photos and beautiful tomatoes. Thank you.

Ted
