Yeah, most kitties don't like getting their feet wet. Unless they're playing with water coming out of the faucet!

Tomato seedlings growing from the seeds I got from Worth. I couldn't see the picture viewer, so they're a little off center.

Great job Robert I hope you get some fruit from them.
The Lime Green Salad seeds were saved by me just rubbing the seed coat off in a tea strainer and letting them dry on a plate.
I really hope you get to try them with this weather you just may get to.

Gialle Squash Update (Not sure how to spell it)

My fingers are spread 6 inches. It's difficult getting a measuring device into the picture. There is corn thickly planted behind the squash on the fence.

This is how we shade tomatoes. It was put up in a hurry because it was so hot working in the direct sun. It is a clothesline basically. Our oldest grandson called them Dragons a few years ago, so we all call them Dragons now.

They are easy to adjust for however much sun the plants need.

My dragons won't go up until the middle of August and they should be able to come down about the middle of September. They will be shading the JD's Special CTex tomatoes.

I planted the fall tomatoes that were outgrowing their solo cups yesterday evening. That was near 1/3 of what I have growing in cells and solo cups. I watched the sun today, and found out that I need to reposition the sheets to where the part that hangs down on the left (East) needs to be hang down much less. The part to the right (West) needs to be lower to protect them from the 5pm sun. In Texas, it is hottest at 5 pm during summer and early fall.

I will most likely need to keep the dragons until mid or late September. I'm guestimating the producing crop to be between mid October through mid November. It would be nice to have fresh tomatoes on Thanksgiving.

I have and will be planting long shelf life tomatoes: Porter and Piennolo Del Vesuvio last a long time after being picked. I also chose a lot of earlier varieties just to give them a better chance. Siberian produces down to 38F - and are meant for growing way up north of us. We will see how they do.

Of course, I might also be being stubborn and might grow a failed crop. So many other accomplished gardeners have way more wisdom. That's why they don't waist their effort to grow fall tomatoes. Logic tells me to listen to them...and I am, but - you see the plants in the ground - I have to try. Shading, lots of leaves, drip irrigation, time, research and planning, and dealing with whatever is killing the older plants... even if the tomato plants do not produce - I will have at least tried my best. And if they fail, I'll try better next year.

Sorry for the sermon. That is how I live with RSD. If I can live with RSD - I'm going to figure out how to grow fall tomatoes in Texas.

I know there is a way to grow tomatoes in a fall garden in Texas. Otherwise all the sites wouldn't say it is possible. I try my best to find sites with advice - that are not selling seeds.

I've mainly used the dragons for pepper plants in the past. And it works.

Robert, I hope that we get us some fall maters this year. If we don't, it won't be from a lack of trying. Mas margaritas if necessary. I decided to put my dragons up this evening too. I will probably have to adjust mine too. Keep on doing what you do, we are all learning together

If you did, all the bad bugs would be easy to find in the morning. They would all be sleeping lavishly for you to find
