I much prefer the flavor of shallots over onions but they are so much more $$ at the store? Any easy types to grow? multiplying? large-ish types to recommend?
- I like my walking onions and how little I do for them ![]() Thanks!

luigiwu, I don't have any sage advise on what varieties to buy, but long ago I bought a handful of a variety shallots at the organic grocery store and planted those. My former growing partner bought a bag of whatever they sell at a hardware store where they sell onion sets. For me, they would split about 4 /1 but we were newbies then. You might have fun buying a few of whatever you can find at the organic grocers, especially if you have already enjoyed a particular type.
