Been busy, but went to the garden with camera today and came away with these. Some good striping and some not so pronounced. Anyway, these toms are small and still getting larger. I'll have more later when they've grown a bit more.

The cross with Pink Berkeley Tie-Dye doesn't seem to be showing dominate striping like the Berkeley Tie-Dye cross. We'll look closer when the toms have matured further.

Got the first few fruit blushing and just before that, we had about 3 days of downpour rain. All this heavy rain over the last few days has caused these first few to split badly. Yesterday, we had a particularly bad storm with high winds that actually broke some of my oak stakes. It laid tomato cages down like dominoes, and I have a large maple tree down in the back yard. Still picking up the pieces around here, but I grabbed these and brought them up to the house.

They ain't pretty, but here they are and even if I don't get to taste these, I can probably salvage some seeds. There are still plenty of green ones left to give us many more opportunities for further analysis of the "striped" ones. Not real proud of these, but here they are anyhow.

HArvested the first two fruits of the Pink Berkeley Tie Dye x Neves Azorean Red. They were about 2 ounces each with no striping at all. Very solid with few seeds and the taste was better than average, but then they are among the first of the season and the first of the year always taste good.

I will photo some of the next ripe tomatoes and post. The others I am growing (violet jasperXmomotaro and violet Jasper X neves) are still green with no stripes evident.

Well, they colored up nicely and I did get to taste both of these. SpudgiantXBTD and Wagner T-4 X Dora are indeed striped. I did get to save seed from both of them and it is drying as I type this. I rated both of them a preliminary 7.5 for taste. Quite good, but could have been sweeter for my tastes. It may have had to do with harvesting them before getting fully ripe on the vine. The next ones will remain until full ripe.

Had a very good harvest day today with three of the crosses you sent me. Photos show that all three varieties are without stripes or colors other than red or pink. The flavor on all three are fairly average with violet jasperXmomotaro the most pleasing. All are in the 3-4-5 ounce size. Let me know if you want me to save seeds on any of these crosses.

Wow thats was intresting harvest. I just sow sunsugar X green copia two week ago. From 8 seedling got 3 potato leaf.

Do dark shoulders constitute striping?

I did find one tomato that is showing this.

As Suze found, the non-striped fruits have such nice flavor, I'm saving seeds!!

These are from the F2 growout this season:

Germination: 14/15
Plant habit: RL Tall 6'+ Vigorous
Production: good - very good
Fruit shape: All 14 produced consistent fruit size, approx .2lbs just under tennis ball size.
Color: Found 3 different stripes (H-14, H-15, H-17)
H-14= Red with some faint orange striping
H-15= Dark Striping, Brown/Green/Red, (Same color as Blk&Brn Boar)
H-17= Red with detailed Gold striping (Same color as Casadys Folly, Red Boar,etc,)

Taste: Very good - Fantastic

Yes, that would be great. I am new to growing tomato's, if things work out I want to cross plants. Thats where I could use advice. I have pollinated giant pumpkins before.

Waking this one up again. I'm wrapping up the 2011 data and find that I have not sent seed back to Frog as requested. My humble apologies for my tardiness. I'm sending both of the two that showed striping here (re...above posts by me). Thanks again for allowing us to participate in your project.

I will likely grow the Wagner T-4 X Dora again, but maybe not this year.
