Good luck! A quick browse turned up lots of reports on bioactivity, but NOTHING on availability live, though American spikenard (which is apparently an Aralia) is available from US native plant sources. N. jatamansi (Indian spikenard) apparently lives above the tree line in the Himalayas (and is listed as threatened there), so I'm not sure it would even survive in the Napa Valley environment. Maybe you encountered the American sort?

Let us know if you find any, though as I said, most of us would probably be in climates friendlier to tomatoes than to nard.
