Default Hydroponic Tomato Questions

Hi, I'm new to growing hydroponic tomatoes and have a couple of questions I'm hoping somebody can help me answer?

1)what EC/TDS/PH do you run your tomatoes at?

2) My multi-testing meter has an ORP, or oxygen reduction potential reading. How is that relevant to my grow? Is it a useful number for hydropoinics or irrelevant?

I just read your other thread which answered my question. I'll get back. Ami

Parcgreene, For tomatoes a PH of 6.3-6.5 is optimum.

EC=Optimum range is 2.0 to 3.5. Vegetative growth of tomatoes can be slowed by raising the EC, while lowering the EC will stimulate rapid nutrient uptake and increased vegetative growth. During fruiting the EC should be increased to promote fruit development more than vegetative growth.
While EC measures total solutes (minerals dissolved) in the nutrient solution, it does not indicate the amounts of any specific element. Therefore, even if the EC of a nutrient solution appears to be within the optimum range, the proportion of each specific nutrient element may not be optimum, so you must still change the nutrient solution on a regular basis.

As far as ORP here is a little treatise I found on it.

ORP Explained

ORP Stands For Oxidation Reduction protentail & Is Mesured In Mv (MilliVolts), In This Case , The Higher The Number In The Plus(+)mV Catagory, The More Damaged The Water Is (Bad News). The High Plus(+)mV Reading On So Many Bottled Waters Are Not Good As They show Ever Decreasing Amounts Of Needed Electrons. Shockingly, There are Those With NO ELECTRONS Present @ All, We Call This "Dead Water" Virtually Devoid Of any Ability To Hydrate You Body." BadNews"

"GoodNews! The Lower The Reading In a Minus Catergory The Better And Higher Electron Density Available..More Electrons Means More Hydration And More Powerfull Antioxidant Properties"

The ORP Chart
