Wow. That's a nice haul! What variety is that pile of nicely shaped red tomatoes at the right front?

Old Brooks. Strangely not that flavorful (compared to the other ones) so I put them in the dehydrator. I think they got too much water.

Here is something we really enjoy when we have lots of tomatoes. The recipe can be varied any way you want. I like to use cheese as the final layer and brown them under the oven broiler a little. Time in the oven seems to intensify the flavor of the tomatoes.

That is great! I can only dream of such a one-day harvest.

Kathy, who's thinking up ways to stuff in more tomato plants without completely taking over the back yard....

What else would you use the back yard for?

Truly beautiful picture and beautiful harvest. You say you have been 'building' towards this for a few years. What do you mean by 'building'? And why did it take you a few years?

Thanks,

Chris

A combination of learning through trial and error how to grow big healthy tomatoes our area (supports systems, soil, fertilizer amount, irrigation design, water amount, disease management, starting seeds, etc) and also finally having enough space to finally grow this much.
