Default Tennessee Suited

I don't hear much about this tomato, so I thought I'd start a thread. I got the seeds from Marsha (thank you!).

This tomato loves the hot and dry weather here. It was the first of all of my "big tomatoes" (non cherry/grape) to set fruit, including non-dwarfs (tennessee suited is a dwarf). And each plant has several tomatoes.

edit to add: I'm in Central Wasington State, it's a desert here

Nope, still too early here for ripe. I've had a few early pearly pink orange tomatoes to tide me over, but nothing else.

They are looking great. I hope Ted (ContainerTed) will see this and chime in. He named it after his state, his and his wife's name. He played with the spelling a bit.

I loved this awesome dwarf. BK- how many plants do you have growing off this ?

Correction, not for his wife, but for another grower in the project.( Thanks Ted.)

Well,Marsha, you are 66.7% correct on the name. Tennessee and Ted are easy, but the Sui part comes from Sue Bailey who sent the original seed to me to grow because her Alaska season was just short of long enough to get fruit ripened.

My wife's name is Judy. Look for that name to possibly show up this year.

Thanks for setting me straight Ted. This brain is over 60, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Lol.

Also, bad.kwlpie, I used to live in Moses Lake (the old air base). It may be considered a "high desert", but it used to be a sportsman's paradise. Many wonderful memories of fishing, hunting, and filling the freezer quickly.

That's right, I knew that was someone here. I'm in Ephrata, about 20 miles from Moses Lake.
I even lived on that old air base for a little while. Still lots of good fishing here. I don't hunt, so I can't tell you about that, but I've been fishing these lakes since I was 4 years old.

Is Moses Lake still a great place for crappie and bass? we used to stop after work and catch supper. Ducks, geese, and pheasant were insanely plentiful. And they used to stock all the little seep lakes below O'sullivan Dam with trout. A man would not go hungry back in 1964/6. I've been concerned that the volcano ruined it all.

I remember Ephrata. Lots of memories are flooding back. Grant County is where my wife and I began our life. Our first child was born at the old hospital at the base.

Take care, man.

how to choose between 70 children?!?!

Tennessee Suited is certainly to me in the top tier of our releases - lovely color, good productivity, excellent flavor.

Our project, to me, has a pretty big top tier! Not a whole lot of them fall even near average - but then again, we got to choose what to progress, and what to release!

I'm in the Tri-Cities, a bit south of you. My Tennessee Suited was planted a bit late, but I'll post back when I have 'maters.

First one is almost ripe. The other side is a little pale still.
