All 4 are up. The one on the lower left came up as a helmet head. I damaged it removing it.

Well, you can , of course, plant any tomato seeds that will look fine at this stage. But why take chances with supermarket tomatoes when there are 100s of heirloom and hybrid choices to choose from ?

I'm doing the same thing as Garf is doing. I'm planting some seeds from a couple of salad bar tomato slices from Ruby Tuesday's as well as a beefsteak variety that I found in a local supermarket. The attraction, at lest for me is to see what will eventually grow from these seeds. I also have the room to do this. It is my belief that Garf, like myself grows much more than just seeds from supermarket tomatoes. For me this year 40 plants will be in the ground including my own plants for size competition as well as some rare heirlooms. Never assume a grower only grows one type of tomato line.

Nice work Garf! I too enjoy the search of the unknown. It's a lot like a box of chocolates. You just never know what you're going to get. Thanks for posting your findings. Julia posted as I was typing.
Edit; Ditto Julia! Good luck to both of you. Dutch
