Leaf wilt problem, help needed!

I have found on a couple of plants, Cherokee Green, Lucky Tiger and Green Tiger, all in 15 and 20 gallon containers, wilting on the tips of thee leaves on some of the smaller stems. The main stem they are attached to is healthy as are all the surrounding stems and leaves. The wilting is mainly on new growth. In one case I removed both stem and flowers and started to remove the bigger stem it was attached to. I don't prune very much. The big stem is green and healthy. There is no sign of any disease except this sudden dying of leaves on random stems. Everything is quite lush and the plants are still putting out fruit.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sharon,

Since you have the stems, and if you have not already done this, why not slice them vertically and immerse them in water to check for Bacterial Wilt? If that is the culprit, the stems will ooze gooey stuff.....

I've seen the tips of new foliage turn crispy if it's too hot.
Especially if it turns suddenly hot after it's been cool and damp.
My plants are getting the "mole man" effect this year, totally shocked if the sun blazes!

for an hour or a day. Two days and they get used to it, but that's not gonna happen this year.

Someone mentioned that water can act as a lens and burn the foliage.. too true!

Interesting bower. It's still raining, I can't stand it anymore! But it's true that it's been hot. Maybe that's the problem, the new growth is getting fried. Anyways if it ever stops raining I'll see. We're supposed to get some cooler weather. I'm considering spraying with a copper fungicide. But we haven't had two days of sun either

Update, I ran out this morning and checked. It's cooler now. Anyways all leaves looked good so we shall see. Right now it's cloudy and cool. What a summer!

New growth wilt during the day can be due to hot bright sun AND/OR thirst. Some varieties (cherries) have done that more in my garden. Maybe because they are FAST growing. ??

I thought about too. Maybe too much rapid growth. For now I'm keeping an eye on it. I'm also going to have to remove some foliage.
