For a fall plantout I would probably have me seeds started by now with a mid to late August target for plant out. I have had best success with small to medium size varieties. Last year, Black and Brown Boar did well for me but I have also had success in the fall with varieties such as Gregori's Altai and JD's Special C-Tex. I usually try and plant out on a cloudy day if thats at all possible, otherwise I try to proved the young plants with some sort of shade since it is so hot at that time of year.
