Help Me Find A Good Hose

Was just hearing about the hose situation from Mrs Nematode. Pretty much every hose is junk we have tried even the expensive ones, except for one that weighs 100lbs that a contractor left behind.

I've got the heavy rubber Craftsman hose, 50+ years old.

Put on a reel, it doesn't take much to pull it out and reel it back in. I rarely pull it off the reel, though. I usually fill two 5 gallon buckets and carry those to my nearby destination.

Second one it sounded more rugged.
4week lead time. Might have to call them and see about 2 50 footers instead.

They have all sizes of the first link in stock. Second link is 4 weeks.
Worth, do you have an opinion on the ruggedness of the first one? Econoflo is what they have.

Never used it just the bigger fire hoses.
I know one thing they are a lot less hassle to role up.
All I ever did was hydro test them.

Bought a rather expensive set of "Lifetime Warranty" hoses from Apex Supply when my wife could get an employee 'cost' discount. Brass fittings with spring strain reliefs. Heavy sheath that would kink, but only if you worked at it. The hoses did fine, even left in the sun. The brass connectors eventually started breaking.

I bought the black rubber Craftsman hose. Kinda heavy but tough to kink. Lifetime warranty...how can you go wrong?

I bought the "never kink" grey hoses at Lowes... Joke was on me, I think they were xtra kink brand.. I have kink after kink. That is pretty frustrating when You are watering plants inside and outside of a greenhouse, on basket racks and some of the garden. I also have quick connect couplers which help reduce the twisting on the hose, but they still kink.

There is a trick to working with a hose to keep it from kinking.
I know how to do it but most often I dont and it kinks.
Usually just at the time I am ready to use it the water stops.
Plus I have all of these trees to move in and out of.

You can't go wrong. Have maybe 3. I posted last year how my water pressure was bumping 200psi a(I installed riser before regulator) and the craftsman hose was the only one who could handle.

Furthermore, I use a craftsman hose as a lead into the garden that connects to a pvc watering system that houses 6 more hoses for convience. That dude is now buried 2 inches in the ground and works like a champ. All those years of running it over with the mower wheels has put in below ground.

The only drawback is the weight, a tad heavy at the 100' length. Also it is only 5/8, whereas, 1/2 hoses would give more output - but rarely needed.

As far as replacement, just cut the ends off and bring to sears, no question asked. They are closing the local sears in town, which leaves me a little miffed. I have always bought craftsman hand tools and replaced many. I do not buy anything craftsman that has working parts or a motor.

Business insiders say sears is on the chopping block, and granted, the local sears that is closing has been a ghost town for years.

How could a 1/2 hose give more output than a 5/8 hose?

I just got through buying two sears appliances I hope they dont go under too soon.
I almost didn't buy them because when I called about something I ended up in the Philippines with a woman I couldn't understand a thing she said.

I find this utter BS that these companies do this.

Pull way more hose then I like to through the garlic patches if you coil them in a figure 8 they never kink.
