Update: Two months from planting the seeds (seeds were planted the 1st week of February) and all of the tomato plants in the GH have blossoms except the Dwarf Varieties. Most trusses have 10-15 buds. It is time to increase the min GH temperature to 60° F. I do use an electric toothbrush to help pollenate the Ovules. The temp and humidity appeared within range as there was lots of pollen dust!

Mother Nature is not cooperating for a couple of weeks as low temperatures range from 10-32° F with several forecasts for snow. It did snow about an inch last night.

Thanks MissS!

We had a late spring snow storm last night! It snowed 14" and Mother Nature used our yard to leave a little of her artistic talent (and some tree damage!). The power went of at 2:30 am and was not restored until 2:30 PM this afternoon. I was worried we had damage to our plants in the GH as there was no heat when the power went off. It appears that the plants did OK and it was 48° F when I checked on them at 6:00 AM this morning.

Here is a little of the "Snow Art" Mother Nature left for us that I thought you may enjoy looking at.

Just now seeing this thread. Beautiful pictures! I have greenhouse envy. I would love to just stand in the middle of it.

Thanks MuddyToes! The plants are just the right size to mulch them with manure compost. I got a few of the plants mulched last night - they should really take off in growth now!

Default Another Cold Greenhouse

6000 feet in Montana. I use 2 small electric heaters for the minimum temp at night. Cost about $30 a year. Extends the season 1 month on both sides.

I was able to get the manure compost on the rest of the GH plants today. I like to compost the plants at about this stage in their growth about 1 1/2" - 2" and the compost settles to about 1".

Hudson, what a piece of heaven you've made!!!

I've got to fix my greenhouse so it can be heated. Those costs are really low!

Loved your snow art too.

No problem Jimbo! Glad you liked the photos - they may make it to a magazine later this year.

Temperatures got down to 19° F last night on the 15th of April and we got a sciff of snow. Glad the power didn't go off last night! A climate controlled GH in a Cold Climate is awesome! Whether we are out of town for a few days or just forget to check the temperatures - our thermostats remember! The propane is lasting as expected this late into our spring! The tomato plants were happy this morning when I checked on them.

That is a constant challenge, Hudson. 19F !, April 15th ! But you have the system under control.
Here in our neck of the woods we see the night lows getting into 60s territory, little by little.
That is when the tomatoes take off and pick up speed. Day highs are also very favorable @ ~85F.
Such thing would not happen back in PNW until sometime late in July and August.
