Yah, that's the one that had the purple cots when it was born. The flower is very reminiscent of the green foliaged Hots in the #1 family but the growth habit is like the sweet bells.

Craig, here's the first TP off my plant. It's sweet, but with more of a green bell pepper flavor, as oppossed to say a red.

Islander plant 2.2, F4 seed, vial 08-18

Plant 4
This plant is twice as tall as any of the other seven. It has chartreuse fruit, initially.

Plant 7 (had purple cotyledons when born)
It has taken on the "look" of a hot pepper, both in its form:
Plant7.jpg

and its fruit (yellow):

Islander plant 2.2, F4 seed, vial 08-18

Plant 4

The fruit shown in the first photo of Post #48 have taken on blotchy purple splashes on one side. The marking looks like damage until you get close.

has become this
Plant4TurningPurple.jpg

Disease or just a disorganized migration to purple?

Yea, I know, it's turning purple but it could do so in a more estheticly pleasing manner.

These fruits are growing quickly and it appears they don't retain the juvenile color any longer than they have to.

This plant is still nearly twice as tall as the other seven.

Turning purple indeed. The hybrid (Islander F1) goes to purple very quickly.

Islander F4 6.2 Vial 08-28
Second Season Status

Four seeds planted, one germinated, will continue care of the others.

This dumb seedling thought its seed coat was a sun hat and refused to take it off while outdoors, so I clipped it along the top edge. Then, as you can see in the photo, the dummy thrust part of its cotyledon through the hole I had made and called it a girdle. Because it really was girdling the seedling, today I clipped the corset and the cots opened to the world to let the true leaves out.

Islander F4 8.2 Vial 08-31
Second Season Status

Four seeds planted, one germinated, will continue care of the others.

This guy also had a seed coat problem. He was reluctant to face the sun just as Islander 6.2 was (see previous post), so I helped him by removing the seed coat. But he refused to spreads his cots. It was as if they were glued together. I could see the swelling of the first true leaves and believed that the "stuck" cots would impede their progress. Yesterday I pinched out the cots below their point of stickiness. The remains of the cot can be seen in the photo and the plant seems to be no worse for the wear.

Ah, the big question - it should sit at purple for awhile - but then does it go red, or does it go golden yellow???

I would like to stabilize one of each. Suze found the purple to yellow. They seem tricky to get stable - still seeing variation at the F4, so let's see how these all end up and we can decide which ones I would like samples of. Of course, anyone participating in this is welcome to keep large samples of whatever they like to grow going forward or to share with others. Key aim of this little project is to do something fun and interesting.
