My Grow List for 2011
There comes a time in every tomato gardener's year when they have to commit - so many varieties, so little time... The seeds hit the dirt this past weekend. I have room for about 20 plants, plus I'm growing Sophie's Choice (again) in a container. The garden plants will be:
Calliope Orange Canadian Heart Casino Cerise Rose Couilles de Taureau Danko Donskoi Granny Cantrell Heidi Hungarian Heart Indiana Red Linnie's Oxheart Maltese Moravsky Div Pink Sweet Pork Chop Red Penna Red Siberian I was trying for some earliness and some color variety (Calliope Orange and Pork Chop), but mostly just tasty reds and pinks. Donskoi and Red Penna are my only repeats from last year as they were the standouts. And Sophie, of course - she always has a spot on my sunny deck. Everything on the list (except for Pork Chop which I bought from Remy's Sample Seeds) I got from trades with other tomatophiles, so thanks! |

Great looking list! Linnie's and Heidi, while very different are both "must grows" for me.

Very nice list Cleo,
I grew Couilles De Taureau (seed from Carolyns offer) last year, and loved it! It did very well for me..It is a repeat in my garden this year.. A few on your list I am trying for the first time..Red Penna (glad to hear it was a standout for you),and Indianna Red.. Ginny |

I agree about Donskoi being a standout. Red Siberian and Linnies Oxheart were standouts in my fall planting. I'm trying Couilles de Taureau, Red Penna, Granny Cantrell, and Hungarian Heart this year also.

Nice list, I'll be giving Donskoi a first go this year, nice to hear good reviews about it. Also on your list I would like to try some day is Indiana Red. I love the hearts! Danko is a staple in my garden every year and its the earliest to set and ripen 2 years running. I grew Hungarian Heart 2 years ago it was a monster of a plant and a heavy producer, taste was ok in my opinion. Good luck this year!
