Nope, no relation to Brandywine at all.

If you read this thread from the start and look at some of the links you'll find that Dester came from Germany in the way described in all the threads here at TV about it.

I absolutely loved the taste of it as I posted in this thread.

My Destors all went down with some kind of curly virus - mixed with some kind of mold. Plants around them are all standing, but Destor was quick to go. If I try it next year, it will be in a spot where I can watch it constantly for disease. Disappointing.

It wowed me as well, but my plant is also suffering. It produced one tomato so far, but I'm seeing a bit of healthy new growth starting this week. I'm hoping for at least a couple more before the season winds down. Despite low production, it will be back next year.

They've struggled for me too in the cool, wet summer we've had here so far. I lost 2 of 5 plants. The others are hanging in there, but are not the greatest looking plants. Still waiting on fruit.
