Default 2016 Garden Journal

Well I am going to try and keep all my 2016 pics/info here, if I ever have time to post them. Here is a start at least. I plan put a grow list up soon but I am still planting some things since the weather has been so mild here so I am focusing on getting more rows/beds built to hold more plants. Growing for the family plus a Farmers market requires quite a bit of work and having a full time job means I am always behind.

This is only my second year at the new place and I have to say a lot has been accomplished, but there is still so much more to do! We plan on getting rabbits sometime this year and I may turn all my rows into raised beds next year, we also plan to extend the GH another 25 feet in length this fall. I have pretty much decided I want to farm full time but it will be a few more years before I can seriously consider it. Here are some pics of what I have been up to.

Lovely green house. What do you cover it with, and how thick is it?

Great setup. You have been busy. I'm considering building/buying a greenhouse for my small farm. Something to play/work in during my upcoming retirement. 2 Year away but I know time goes buy quickly. Curious how yours is constructed? Still using rebar & is it just bolted together at all ★★★★★★★★s. I can see a little from your last pics but not entirely visible.

It is 1.25 inch schedule 40 grey plastic pvc electrical conduit. I drove 2 inch pvc into the ground then slid the hoops in them. Everything is secured with carriage bolts. I mostly followed this tutorial here but i would suggest painting the hoops white to increase the life of the plastic. I never got around to it but plan to this fall.

I am likely the worlds worst carpenter ever so I think I am going to re-frame my ends but the rest is super simple.

Thanks for the info. I think I prefer this over buying one as I can customize it for the space I have.

Thanks Marsha. It really is amazing how much joy that little baby girl has already brought us. She is always happy and always smiling. She started laughing in her sleep when she was 2 months old and now laughs all the time. I have never seen such a happy child in my life and she makes everyone else happy with her infectious smile and laugh. Being older makes me appreciate just how wonderful being a dad is.

The fruit of the ground and the fruit of the body are both beautiful.
