No snow here. It was clear and according to the thermometer in the car - it was 20F at our house this morning.

After looking at this morning's lows near us - our low was somewhere around 25F. Too cold to wake up for

We are having a light snow now, temperatures are running in the low and mid-30s and will be in the high 20s/low 30s starting late evening on Saturday. I have a raised bed with mustard greens, kale, a Brussels sprouts and broccoli plants. There are leaves in the bed because they fell on the bed, but I am kicking myself for not throwing an extra layer of leaves on the bed for added insulation. Hopefully the rain/snow will let up and I will go out and throw some additional leaves on the bed.

The South beats most of the Midwest in getting the first snow of the year...crazy weather.

things have finally quieted down here. three days of high winds knocked out a power line causing some people to be without power for awhile. we were unaffected, a few light flickers but that was it. we did not get the heavy snow that was forecast the first two days of the storm. however, on the way home from work yesterday, it was snowing heavy. i had to creep along on the side roads due to poor visibility. we ended up with about 6 to 8 inches of fresh snow by morning. i spent several hours outside plowing snow, blowing snow, shoveling snow, and scooping snow. i got the dog out for a long walk, filled up the bird feeders, topped off the chickens, and turkeys food, and water, fueled up the tractor, and finally fueled up myself. now, time for a break.

temps are in the teens to 20s, and it is going to continue to snow for the next several days. not a question of if, but how much.
looking outside, the fresh snow is pretty. the pine trees are heavily frosted. it looks like a christmas card.

winter is here in the copper country.

Snow is starting to melt now. It was fun while it lasted.

Yes, crazy Mother Nature - Rockporter on the coast and Corpus Christie are having snow, Houston has snow, but in north Texas, clear and dry, though cold.

Presently 1 C/34 F here, with a shocking high of 15C/59 F for tomorrow. Normal max is 37 F. Record high for the date was 55F set in 1957. In keeping with the pattern this season, unusual warm temp accompanied by rain and high winds. We'll get a solid 10-20 mm rain tonight, and another 10 mm tomorrow afternoon with SE winds gusting 80-100 kph.(50-60+ mph).
It's awesome because I'll be driving and there's no ice and snow. I'm a little less thrilled about loading up the car in the thick of it with that kind of wind though. The rain is no worry but I don't like the margin of error on the blow.

Woke up to 42F and crystal clear blue sky. Supposed to get to 63 today. Good for an afternoon hot tub with a glass of red wine. Thinking we will take Ella Fitzgerald Dog on a very long walk this am.
You don't get weather like this too often in 10b.

Ella Fitzgerald Dog?

So named because she can hit the high notes?

We actually broke all the records here yesterday since they began in 1874: got to 64 F/ 17.9 C was the warmest December day on record for St. John's, and warmest day between Nov 26 and March 20th here, ever recorded since 1874. It was gorgeous... who minds a little rain and wind. Guess I shouldn't expect many more of those coming up before winter's over.
