Default Ultra , ultra early Mother's Day tomato in Nebraska!

Had to share this thanks to all the tips I picked up here on the boards. Last year I was smitten that I had a Stupice ripe the first week of July. This year with the warm weather and seeing everyone's container set up, here it is, a tomato on Mothers Day grown outdoors in Nebraska. Can't wait to try it. I'm not picking it until I have a chance to show it off! - Lisa

Ironically, this is the traditional day to plant out in eastern Nebraska.

Congratulations, Lisa! You showed a lot of willpower by waiting until taking a picture. Let us know what you think of the taste.

I started some small plants early in a greenhouse this year and planted them outdoors April 30th with fruit already on the plants! We've had little 2 fruits from Maskotka last week and just picked 2 from Fruhe Liebe today- but no pics. It's an early record for me, too.

Amazing! Hope there are plenty of its brothers for the Mid-West Tomato Fest in August.

I ate my first yesterday, too! It was a Kibit's Ukrainian.

Mighty tasty, especially for a first fruit. (sometimes that first one is a little bland) The only problem was that I had left it on a day or two too long and it was a little soft. I kept thinking it would turn more bright red.

I should know better. Most of my heirlooms seem to do better If I pick them when the shoulders are still slightly under ripe.

Still exciting!

Well thank you every one for sharing my enthusiasm. I start my ultra early tomatoes in January at the latest. This was either a Bloody Butcher or Early Treat (Burpee), it doesn't look like the Stupice. I used Thrive that I had left over from last year, so maybe that sparked a growth spurt.

Beautiful tomato! Fantastic job a getting such an early one. Now I gotta go out and and look at mine, even though I've "looked at" them about 30 times today and it's 10pm!
