^^^^ What Ricky said about porosity!^^^^

Another good mix is Roots Organics Original - great porosity and ingredients

This Ghost is in RO Original in a 5 gallon Smart Pot and is fed Masterblend.

I wonder how these would work for grow bags, I could see a big avocado tree in this one. Just need to add drainage.

I've used fabric/mesh bags extensively over the past couple of years, with mixed results.

They've done great with peppers and eggplants, smaller plants with less foliage surface area vs a large tomato plant. With tomatoes, I've had trouble keeping the plants well watered, constantly, especially once big and in hot weather. The extra transpiration from the leaves surface area dries the bag too quickly (even big 10 gals, unless you water 2x a day) and i lose too many fruits from BER.

Of course, you can setup with a drip system to alleviate/eliminate the watering problem -and I have. But I also like giving large plants as a gift, to encourage the next generation of gardeners, and so want to maximize their success.
