If you look back at the post by me,followed by nctomatoman you'll see that neither of us know what they are offering for MM now, and I gave a reason why as to staff changes at SSE where it's very possible that info/seeds,were not passed on. Carolyn I'll delete my duplicate post when I have time to do it.

Craig,
I'll have to check my germination rates again, but MM germinated pretty well for me. Much better than my 12 year old Big Beef seeds. Lee

I'm growing out some Mexico tomatoes this year, and I have some runts.

I grew what I thought was Mexico Midget last year from seeds that I had received in the swap. It certainly was prolific, but they were not currant sized. The taste was ok, but nothing special.

The incorrect variety that is being passed around certainly does NOT taste as good as the original.
I bought two packs and two live plants from SSE. It was too late to plant the seed, so I just grew out the plants. When I realized they were incorrect, I just assumed SSE sent me the wrong plants. The next year, I grew out the seeds. They, too, were incorrect. I then came here to T'ville and found out very quickly that the SSE seeds were not true. I've tried many others, Mexican Cocktail, Matts, Sara's, etc (some which may not be currants), and none compare, IMO, to MM. To each his own.... It will always be a favorite of mine.

In the cells, you can see the center cell with 14 MM that I haven't transplanted.... I'm guessing I got 17/24 from 12 year old seed. Maybe it germinates better the older the seed is! Lee

Also, here's what they should look like.
And comparing the size to Red Barn.....

I had asked Craig about the germination and as he said, it is quite unusual, often taking 4-6 weeks. I've got seeds in moist paper towel in a bag going for about 2.5 weeks and seeds in starting mix I'm still misting and those have been in the mix for 4 weeks. I'm not giving up yet!

I'm growing MM this year I got my seeds from Tania, and very good germination not slow at all. I sold some plants and saved two for myself. I like to think they are the real deal. I 'll report back.

I'm starting to lose hope for Mexico Midget for my 2016 garden. Still no germination. In preparation I potted up an extra KBX and will plan on growing 2 of those new to me plants. Hopefully I've got better news in the next week or so!

Don't lose hope - I've got dozens germinating in the pot that held the plant last year and sat out all winter! They are still small, but stay tuned - I will send you a seedling in a few weeks. They grow quickly - so put yourself at ease!
