Default Rules?

Hi
Are crosses using a hybrid F1 x Heirloom a bad idea?
are there too many variables?
How about F1 x F1?

Thanks for the replies!
With so many "parents" to choose from.......
I imagine there is a closed mouth policy.
That being said, how would a fellow go about
finding previous attempted crosses?
are successful hybrid maters(better boy ect)
parentage avail to study?

Most companies selling F1 hybrids don't reveal the parentage. Commercial secrets!
