Help identify the bugs and appropriate measures
Long time tomato grower, first time Zucchini grower. I noticed on the flowers that I have some bugs. I took a close up picture, and attached a very downsized image. There appear to possibly be 3 types of bugs or maybe just in different life cycles/phases. What are these guys and what should I use to treat them? They appear to be proliferating, so, leaving them alone isn't an option. Neem didn't seem to phase them. Thanks for your help.

They look like aphids to me, so soapy water should do the trick.

I thought the green ones could be aphids. It appears to me there are also so white bugs and at the bottom of the shot on the left, something larger, brown and maybe winged? Then, there are few bugs that are really small and black. I'll try soapy water. This was after neem spraying, which didn't seem to phase anything. Thanks.

Dewayne, the white ones are exoskeletons of molted or of dead aphids. The small black ones appear to be an earlier instar of aphids. The neem may have killed the adults but not the nymphs. No matter, insecticidal soap will do the trick. You can make your own too. Many recipes online for it.
Make sure to spray only early AM or late afternoon, and a good rinse after an hour to wash the soap off may be helpful too. It will keep the residue from burning the leaves in the sunshine. Marsha |

Thanks! Soap it is!
I'm paranoid about squash bugs since everyone I've mentioned this to has said, what are you doing to prevent them. My answer so far is nothing. I was hoping these weren't the beginning of those little evil creatures! Dewayne mater |
