From personal experience, I don't get mouth ulcers from tomatoes. I haven't had mouth ulcers for years, but tomatoes certainly irritated them, if I recall correctly.

I have no interest in figuring out how to get them so I can compare the effects of tomatoes on them. Unless it was part of a very highly paid study.

how productive is it

Hi Charley,

It is a vigorous plant and productive. I have drawers full of beefsteaks I have developed, and in the "gourmet" category, this one is tops.

The minimal requirements for us to release a tomato are:

1. Excellent flavor under the "best" conditions, and very good flavor under most all conditions.

2. Vigorous growth in our fields, under moderate disease pressure, and good vigor in at least a few other places.

3. Good production, and we avoid very late maturing varieties.

We also go in for interesting looks (and almost always stripes), but that is pretty obvious to anyone who looks at a few of our tomatoes.

And last but not least -- you'll never find me hyping a tomato as "our best" beefsteak now, and another "best" beefsteak next week or next month. We have no interest in rolling out all of the mediocre or pretty good tomatoes we have developed over the years (most we have discarded anyway). For us quality trumps quantity.

Cool always looking for a good orange this year it was sweet Ozark orange and it was delicious and more productive than kbx but 5 tomatoes is all i got.so looking for more productive varieties. Next year im trying Catwell and maybe try this one also

My biggest tomato of the year has been a 2 pound Orange Jazz. I took it to market this morning to use as a paperweight.

My cousin stopped by market with his one year old son, who was also impressed with Orange Jazz:

Seeds for tomato will most likely be available this fall. I will let people know exactly where, when I know.

It has been pre-released to some friends, but they are not supposed to distribute seeds until it is released for sale.

The friends are our collaborating members.

i like the idea of not having to discard 1/4 of the fruit due to cat facing. What's the approximate dtm?

It was about 65 days here this year (warm inland N. California valley), but our transplants were ginormous. I would say it is a 70-80 day variety.

I suffered from canker sores all my life. About 5 years ago I switched to a Paleo diet which coincidentally was grain free. My canker sores and migraine headaches disappeared. I have reintroduced corn and rice to my diet but stay away from wheat as much as possible . Nowadays, if I cheat and eat wheat a couple of days in a row, my mouth erupts. I can usually shorten the duration by taking Bemadryl for a couple of days.
