ray, maybe! i never saw actual flowers on the top of the stalk where that ball sits but i have seen a plant or 2 on occasion develop that ball. it seldom happens out of the about 210-220 plants i grow each year. this year i did see it on one possibly 2 plants. i think it was on one of the 2 different red varieties i grew not the copra but not sure which red. again no flowers and this was when i was pushing them over at the neck so they were done. flowering in spring would be when they are really producing seed but that should be from a plant that is now in it's 2nd year of growth. i suppose a plant could flower at the end of the growth in the 1st season but i wouldn't expect it to be a case where many are. tom
