Bloody Butcher is one I want to grow next year. It was one of my favorite earlies from my garden a decade ago.

Whwoz,
What time do you plant out? I remember that you're in Victoria but don't remember which region? Thanks. |

Master Shake, I sow around the last weekend in July, aiming to plant at the end of September/start of October. I will plant a bit earlier if I think there are no more frosts coming and the weather has been good enough to allow me to prep the beds. Last year was really wet in August (226mm) and it basically has not stopped raining to any great extent since. A dry month has been anything under 50mm, if we get that much in a month we have doubled it at least. I live in West Gippsland, Baw Baw Shire about 1.5 hours east of Melbourne.

I started planting some seeds in small pots around the same time, so i'll keep a close watch for last frost and try to plant in about a month as well. Good luck. |

We are in a small area that actually had above average rainfall last year -we scored about 4 times your average last year and it really has not stopped since.
The main thing with planting is to start after that last frost, with your warmer conditions your plants should be well and truly ready. Have a good season |

Had a small excavator in today to sort out the vegetable garden extension. 6 truck loads of soil converted into 145 meters of lands 1 meter wide in readiness for planting. Tomatoes are hardening off so will go in in a week or so as long as weather stays like it has been. Days in low 20sC, nights around 7-10 C. Wednesday night forecast 3 C, will hold off until after that.
