Moonglow I can't pull up a larger image to see it all but what I can see looks great. Have to let us know how things are going. I did all kinds of spreadsheets and docs to decide which seeds to grow but it all came down to inny minney minny moe

For those of you already starting seeds... what is your last frost date? Mine is March 15... figured I'd start the peppers at the end of January & the maters by Feb 15th... am I not giving enough time? Planning on using an electric blanket beneath trays as the ground floor studio is about 65 degrees... any advice?
I'm going stir crazy nursing a bum knee (started up last Fri of course) & can barely hobble, much less get out & work in the horse manure I need to pick up...grrrrr.... thank god for Naprosyn & aspirin!

If I were you I would start (all) of them now.
Even if you have to put them in 4 inch pots they will be just right at planting time.

thanks Worth - when I can do a bit more than hobble (cursing & hobbling around the four-legged kids sprawled EVERYWHERE it seems) I will start em up! DH is in shock looking at my grid (using the seed packs of course).
We're due for a bit of the cold folks north of here have been getting - we'll see how my 3 inch tall pea plants & beet, mesclun babies do. Will toss out spinach & black kale seed in one of the empty raised beds after this lil cold front pushes through.... but dreaming of the 'maters

" thank god for Naprosyn & aspirin!"

Stormymater, I would not take both at the same time. Both have blood thinning properties. It can be a bad thing when you accidentally nick yourself and can't get the bleeding to stop. You can use naprosyn and tylenol together. I swear by naporsyn for all my various breaks and bang-ups ( I get alot of them)

I am sorry about the knee.

My last frost date is March 15th as well.

kat, we have to keep ourselves busier while waiting for the seeds to come up

. i have gone pretty paperless and will keep my log on the server. still not done with the descriptions but set the formula to calculate:

germination rate
seedling count

worth, tomorrow my pepper seeds will get their turn.

Newatthiskat - you are absolutely correct, especially with respect to my giving myself a painless but very bloody bleeding ulcer; but you know how bad those in healthcare are about our health right? My mixing & matching should therefore give a clue... besides I detest the bitter taste of Tylenol; it just seems so inedibly wrong (unlike delicious orange-flavored baby aspirin LOL).
If this doesn't radically improve this week I'm going to have to submit in order to get some Toradol...

Hmmmm - all the old folks down here were super cautioning me not to start too soon - to avoid leggy plants. I do plan to set them out for daily sunbaths on south facing side of house pretty early on.
Figure I can watch them & fuss over them now I am not on contract.

These were started last year on Dec 25 in the house.
They spent two weeks in the house from seed planting till I got home under lights.
When I got home I would put them out in the day and when it was too cold they would go under lights,
They went through some pretty cold weather, mid 30's and above.

They aren't the best tomatoes but what do you think, do they look leggy?

I don't want to push my wild ways on anybody but this is how I do it and it works for me.

They were about 12 to 18 inches tall at plant out in March.

Cool Ice Acetaminophen/Tylenol taste awesome, well for at least 10 seconds until the coating melts. Plenty of time to get them down with a glass of water.

After 2 days, some already sprouted. Woo-hoo.

We're having unusually warm winter days...Almost summer-like.

OK as far as status of varities. So far no germination at all on all my KBX seeds (7). I don't have germination on Earl's Faux (4), Wes (6), Cherokee Chocolate (4), or JD's Special C-Tex (4), Orange-1 (3).

I have more seeds of everything but KBX. I have 100% germination on other seeds ( I swear that some have trippled production from 1 seed). I had a low germination of Bulgarian Triumph and Opalka but those are still showing signs of life. Funny how that works. Also On my first saved seeds of Pineapple from last year I have 100% germination. I am excited. Now if they only come out true! I will plant some backup seeds of KB (no more KBX) and the others and see how my luck goes. Have 4 more seeds of WES. What are others ideas on waking up seeds that are slow to wake up? I really want WES in the garden this year
