I'm using the Jiffy Organic Seed Starting Mix and having no problems with it. Color and growth on my tomatoes and peppers is as expected.

I too have always used the Jiffy Organic Seed Sterting mix, and have never had any problems associated with it.

I do not think purple leaves is a indication of something going wrong. As for mixes I hear foxfarm light warrior, and pro mix is pretty much recommended across the board for extremely healthy tomato seedlings. But, as you see here others have used jiffy with success also.

Raindrops is right. Purple is a common coloration for tomato seedlings. Particulatly the underside of the leaves and particularly in cooler conditions. Itself it is not a problem.

The mass produced big box materials like Jiffy will probably have a bad batch from time to time. If you are going to transplant them I would suggest you get/make some other mix from another source though. Potting them up into garden soil when so small may well invite disease problems.
