Google COF (complete organic fertilizer) by Steve Solomon.
He suggests the use of animal feeds(seedmeals) and limes as cost effective fertilizer.
Found it in his book Gardening when it Counts.
4 parts seedmeal
1/4 gypsum
1/4 agricultural lime
1/2 dolomite lime

Additional for best results add a high phosphrous source

1 bonemeal

4-6 qt. COF/ 100 square ft
