I'm hoping these lists will be used by participants to request varieties, especially the * marked ones. So far, no requests.

Thanks Gary.

I’d be willing to help increase the seed inventory by growing out any of these
Green Doctors, Frosted
Isis Brandy
Lovely Lush
Loxton Lad
Starfire Isis

And these varieties are also on my wishlist
Arctic Rose
Boronia
Chocolate Lightning
Lithium Sunset
Pink Ping Pong
Ron’s Carbon Copy
Uluru Ochre

Edit: I'm also interested in Sunset Bumblebee, but can't find any information on it. Is it a blush, or some sunset color?

So if I'm understanding right we should choose our 20 selections from these lists? And make sure we grow and save enough seed from starred ones to share next year?

My new request list then:

Austin's Black Cherry
Brad's Atomic Grape
Barry's Crazy Cherry

# 1 A * indicates a variety that has rarely been in the swap and would be nice to increase its supply.

#16 I'm hoping these lists will be used by participants to request varieties, especially the * marked ones. So far, no requests.

I do not understand why send varieties marked * when there is no interest for them

I think the 'no requests' refers to requests in general, not specifically to the *.

Varieties that are sent to the MMMM are distributed widely. If a variety comes in that has not been in before, it will be distributed widely and more people will try it. People may not know much about the new varieties, and may not request them for this reason. But if they receive seeds, they might try it.

If we did not try to increase the new varieties and send them in, we'd just have the same varieties year after year.

I see the asterisks as Gary's wishlist. They mark things he'd like to send out more of because they're popular but rare, or because they're unique but not widely grown. Mahogany is newer so it probably hasn't been a MMMM option often, but many of the Dwarf Tomato Project cultivars are in high demand.. Older tomatoes like Striped Cavern aren't currently fashionable, but are great in stir-fry, pickled, or some other use you'll never discover if you don't grow them.

If it's got an asterisk, sounds interesting, AND you can commit to saving seeds for it you can help more people grow the variety in 2020. If it's not something you're interested in grown, whether you think anyone else would want to grow it is a moot point.

Thanks, Gary!!!

P.S. - Let me throw out a "plug" for Green Mustang -- I sent Gary the seeds for this little-known but very tasty variety. I bag and tag, so they should be true-to-type. The tomatoes are fairly sweet, but not lacking in complexity. I thought they were scrumptious, and their texture was amazing -- neither too soft nor too firm and juicy, but not overly so. It's my favorite green so far... I like it better than Aunt Ruby's German Green; Green Mustang is still ripe when the skin gets an amber blush. (With ARGG, I usually miss the peak of ripeness.)

For a photo, see the World Tomato Society's website, but note that the tomatoes are 10-14 oz., not inches! It's described as a "hard to find," "delicious" variety. https://www.worldtomatosociety.com/t...green-mustang/

That's a very nice looking tomato. Greens are usually a hard sell when I'm giving away extras, but the upside of that is that when you find one you really like you don't have as many people wanting to eat yours. :=)

Thanks for sharing one of your favorites.
