i planted pepper seeds on the 12th. they are underneath the wood stove to germinate.
nice and warm there with the fire going. twelve varieties started. some are old seed, so not expecting those to germinate. i heavily seeded the old seeds, if none germinate this year, the rest of the seeds will get tossed. also seeded some egg plant. tough for me to grow them here due to cool short season. if they do grow, they are a potato beetle magnet more so than potatoes. plan is to grow them in pots in the back of my truck. peppers did well in the truck bed last year, so why not egg plant. also thinking of trying some melons there too. i am trying to germinate geranium seeds i saved two years ago from red, white, and purplish varieties. no idea what will happen with them. thyme, oregano, and peppermint will be started tomorrow, soon to be followed by several types of basil. most everything else will be seeded the first week of april. i cleaned up the guest room so i can bring a plant stand up from the basement. its too cold down there for peppers. i am hoping they will like it much better in the bedroom. i bought fresh seed starter, and will be potting up using happy frog mix from the feed and seed. expensive stuff, but the potted plants seemed pretty happy last year. keith
