Their shakes are awesome. Authentic ice cream, and 20 or so flavors. I like the Nutella or M&M ones; Mum likes the turtle caramel nut.

It's the same here. We haven't tried it because they are up in the DFW Metroplex. We get coupons in the mail circulars. The prices seem really cheap there. I know where one is on Hulen street in Fort Worth, but there are way too many good places to eat a lot closer.

I got the Friday special at Carl's JR, a Famous Burger for $1.59, comes with leaf lettuce, onion, tomato, pickles. They have that special each Friday between 6 pm and 8 pm. I can't buy the stuff and cook it cheaper than that.

Nan, I was wondering how the burgers are there? I know, we all have different tastes, but the name of the place makes me think of the mom and pop hamburger joints of the past. Which I do miss a lot.

Steal & Shakes have been around since 1934. I'm not a burger connoisseur, don't particularly like them, but S&S's seem good. (No gristle- and I can spot gristle in anything short of tofu.) They have signature little skinny fries, surprisingly good. Go before 5 pm and the shakes are 1/2 price.

imp, is that the Carl's Famous Star burger? That would be insanely cheap! For years, they sold them for 99 cents and it made for a good quick meal for 5 of us. Now, they are somewhere between $4 - $5 for one. Ongoing special is 2 for $6. They are the only fast food burger I want as they are flame broiled instead of fried.

Little tidbit - Carl Karcher went to our church in Anaheim when I was growing up. Can't imagine what he'd think of the company he sold, with their racy ads.

Same one. And still made to order. Avery good burger!

I don't see a lot of ads as I don't watch TV, so that might be a good thing!!
