I have a neighbor down the street who planted some alliums. Bright purple ones. I am going to have to ask her if they are heirlooms or not. She ordered them on-line.
They are beautiful and I would love to get some to plant for next year. Another bonus I've noticed is that the honey bees spend a lot of time working the flowers. Do they grow from bulbs like garlic, or seeds? Any sources to check into would be appreciated. Thanks. maryinpnw |

Yes they grow from bulbs. Never planted them myself, but have seen them for many years in the Brecks and Dutch Gardens bulb catalogs.
