Any ideas what this is?
Brad Gates posted these on the Wild Boar FB page...
He said he's never seen anything like it before. Definitely strange. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Looks like they were half dipped in bleach. Disease or chemicals or partial albinism?

Albinism is a genetic mutation, I've never seen partial albinism, but I know what you are referring to in the picture with one fruit half white the other half dark. If chemicals or partial albinism,I doubt one would see such differences on ONE stem with several fruits on it. Carolyn

It's Brad's Atomic Grape, I've been growing them for 3 years now and have seen some variations (aka Atomic Salad, a larger saladette I've been growing out) but nothing like this. Brad has grown thousands of plants and states he has never seen anything like this, strange indeed.

Looks to me like 1 albino, 2 half albinos and 2 normal on 1 cluster...
Wonder what they taste like? |

Another link to info on chimeras in plant tissue cultures, which is? may? be different than what BG got in the field, but excellent info on just what chimera is what and the expressions of the same, for those of us not trained in the field.

Sometimes wandering about gets you more information and sometimes not, or just makes you wonder even more, LOL!!
The following link is to the first known grafted chimera and is a citrus, but oddly, looking at the first picture on the page, clicked on to make it large, shows the oddness of the fruit, the larger light colored section as in the second picture in the OP. Wonder why and also would that be the same for all/ many chimeras with two colors on the fruit or maybe only when white is involved??? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bizzaria

I think it’s sort of extreme variegation,
Very strange indeed. KarenO |

I'm thinking Fred nailed it, a chimera, learned something new today.
