Territorial Seed is offering some new crosses.

Genuwine...Brandwine+ Costoluto Genovese

Cherorkk Carbon...Cherokee Purple+ Carbon

Big Brandy...Brandywine+Big Dwarf

Anyone had any experience with these?

These are all so-called "Heirloom Marriage" F1 hybrids produced by Pan American Seed

For example -- Cherokee Carbon

They are sold by reputable companies like Territorial

It is fashionable for some places to sell unstable seeds (sometimes out of desperation?), but I do not think it is standard for any of the established seed companies to do it.

Some smaller seed companies are selling segregating populations from crosses, and that shouldn't be a problem, as long as they are clearly labeled as such. And sometimes they are.

They are hybrids

They are uniform (meaning that all of the seed you get will produce plants that are identical). They will not be segregating populations. All of the seed will be F1 hybrid seed.

No hybrid is "stable" -- these, like any other hybrids, will not produce uniform plants in subsequent generations, and the companies selling are not claiming they are "stable".

I see where the confusion comes from though. They are not clearly labeled as F1 hybrids (perhaps because they know some people will prefer to assume that they are not).

Scrolling down to Osborn Seed Co. the photo might be their own, or might not be, but it does not resemble the ripe fruit pic of the others

I grew Big Brandy last year. My notes say taste was better than average, I would grow this again, and "Nice!".

No; I've never grown a Brandywine. Big Brandy was just a little better than average, but it was WAY better than Red Brandymaster, grown side-by-side. (Conditions: dry farmed, clay.)

Yeah half the time they say hybrids, but aren't or they don't say they are, but they are. Gotta love false advertising

Confusing not to call them F1. People will assume they can just grow the same from saved seeds. I expect the f2s from Brandwine+ Costoluto Genovese will be quite diverse in size and shapes (and color).
