A very few free Syrian and Kurdish tomatoes
Scored some seeds today in Erbil's souk - two packages of Syrian tomatoes (no variety) and one of a Kurdish local variety called the Erbil tomato.
I am naming the Syrian variety Al Sham for the historical name of Syria, and the Kurdish variety Local Erbil. I can share a very few seeds if anyone is particularly interested in this region. PM me - first come, first served. I can't load pics anymore on here, so here are the seed packages: http://picpaste.com/IMG_0207-KCpiW9Et.JPG Also pictured are some interesting peppers from the region, and one very interesting bottle gourd called Fleskalebas. I can spare a few seeds of those as well. |

Interesting looking pictures. Paying attention to linguistic details right away: the first seed packet uses the common colloquial Arabic word 'bandura', the Erbil one has the more Classical Arabic word 'Tamatim'.
Enjoy the sun, and the food! Sahteen.. |

Sending PM for both and I hope that Chance The Gardener, originally for Turkey and has the new website about vegetables from the Anatolian region sees this offer.

Closed, and can't fill all of these requests. I will send what I can. Thanks, folks, for your interest in these seeds. I will be back in the US late Feb and you will get the seeds shortly after that.

Folks, I waited to mail these seeds until I tested them. Six days after sowing, I now have 4 out of 10 germination on the Local Erbil seeds and 2 out of 4 for the Al Sham from Syria. I might get a few more late comers. I think that is fine - you will probably do better if you watch the heat a little. I think these seeds got a little cold.
I will get these in the mail in the next few days. Last edited by ScottinAtlanta; March 8, 2014 at 09:51 AM. |
