Good news, only one I don't have is Aunt Ginny but I'm hitting you for seeds next year. My Neves Azorean, good last year, is loading up.
It's so great growing year-to-year and seeing the differences in the seasons. This year is late but loaded up. Sadly, I'm sure Livingston's Favourite doesn't look right. They have to be bigger than where they are at now. Time will tell. On the car front, she was an 82yo lady driving deceased husban's car. Mine is drivable, just, as 4WD has big bullbar thingy behind bumper. 8 working days to fix starting Jan 8. Cost about $10G. |

You are about to be inundated eh. Great stuff.
Had a builder around last night to go over some plans for extensions on the house. He reckoned he liked tomatoes so I gave him some. He was amazed by the GMG and LGS's. Gonna offload some more today at a school where a couple of the female teachers are really in to vegie growing. |

Okay, some answers to your questions...
Grub ! I can't believe you've got flowers on such a small plant of TYW ! It's so young ! Bloom boom spray ??? The fall bed where one of your two TYWs is growing is only two-years old. It is built on mainly mushroom compost, some cow manure, some sandy loam, with some potash to counter the acidity that was apparent when the blood-and-bone I added clumped in areas and seemed to get acidic. This was according to various spot PH soil testings I made prior to planting out. I haven't fertilised the plants with anything else at all. Later, I will hit them with bloom booster to really help things alone. Your other TYW has one early small flower clump on its main stem, you know the ones which usually don't form fruit but fra]izzle, because I maintain the plant's not ready. So the one pictured that's flowering is a good healthy one with good-sized blooms. Break out the support ties ... you're gonna need them ! Yeh, and the trouble is I'm AWOL for a week soon and my bag of ties from last year, washed in bleach and rinsed, is getting low. But I will support it and, later in the season, those tall Kimberly will probably get booted. So far, its looking like its "taking" to your summer ~ How hot is it now ??? This season is all over the shop. We had a few 38C days, but it's more like... Tomorrow Mostly cloudy. Early/late shower. City: Min: 17 Max: 19 Sunday A shower or two clearing. City: Min: 17 Max: 21 Monday Fine. City: Min: 16 Max: 25 Tuesday S Change, late shower or two. City: Min: 18 Max: 27 Do you plant every season in that same patch ? Yep. What do you amend your soil with every fall ? See above. Normally 50/50 mushroom and cow, some potash, little bit of blood and bone, and as much homemade compost as I can make to load the soil with organics, look after wormies, hold moisture (important) and rejuvenate. Also, bare in mind, I have two chickens and their litter is aged in my compost. How deep is your mulch ??? What is your mulch ??? Is that "Sea-grass" ??? My mulch is very deep and placed over leaky hoses for very occasional watering. On a ruler the mulch is 6in minimum. It consists of a layer of about 2in of seagrass then a a 4in layer of sugar-cane mulch on top. That's what you can see. I wanted the seagrass (well washed) close to the soil. Why so many questions ??? I wanna know ! Because we are on the path to eternal tomato enlightenment at the behest of the tomato gods and godesses that brought us here . |

Finally got the real deal with Box Car Willie me thinks. Haven't tasted one yet. Prolific plant.
Gary O'Sena sliced and the taste is very good. Unlike other blacks I have tasted and more like a good pink with a sweetish overtone. Noice eh. Then he made his way into a couple of BLT's [/img] |
