if i rip out tomatoes that are suffering from bacterial speck, spot and canker and i plant lettuce or cabbage or any other veggies for that matter will they get bacterial diseases?

The strains of bacteria that attack solanaceous crops are usually different from the strains that attack other plant families. You really think you've got all three bacterial pathogens at the same time?

Agreed and I doubt you have either of the tomato diseases that have canker as part of the name.

Alternaria Stem Canker is found almost exclusively in CA and I doubt you'd find Bacterial Canker in NJ, both of which are systemic diseases as opposed to Bacterial Speck and Bacterial Spot which are foliage diseases.

Many of us get the two bacterial foliage diseases lots of times but I've never ever pulled out a plant b'c of that. It's true that it's harder to treat plants for foliage bacterial infections but it can be done. But first one should remove and dispose of ALL affected leaves and dispose of them and then start on a regular spray schedule to prevent any new infections which are spread by wind and rain.

while the leaves on the infected plants show sign of spot and speck its the infected stems that have me worried.

i've been dealing with bacterial issues since the start of the season. the brandywine varieties were completely stunted when disease struck. after i removed all infected leaves the new growth immediately had spots and the stems were infected as well. since my garden is heavily planted i thought best to just remove the worse looking plants.

cherokee purple followed soon after and the rest look manageable. i did replace the pulled plants with plum roma from the nursery and about 10 days later started showing signs of infection

what would you be spraying with to combat bacterial disease?
